Vice President of Uganda implores women to engage in income generating activities

KAGADI
The Vice President of Uganda Her Excellency retired Major Jesca Alupo has called upon women in Bunyoro to take advantage of the prevailing peace in the country to engage in income-generating activities that will enable them to support their families and also improve their welfare.
This was contained in message delivered for her on Saturday by Hon. Peace Mutuuzo the state Minister for Gender and culture at the Bunyoro Kitara Diocese Women golden Jubilee celebrations held at St. Luke’s C.O.U parish in Kagadi town, Kagadi district.
She contributed 10m shillings towards the construction of Women’s Guest House
She pledged to organize training programs for Women in Bunyoro so as to enable them attain various hands on skills for their development.
The Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese Samuel Kahuma thanked the NRM government led by President Museveni for spearheading women emancipation and for its continuous support towards church development.
He congratulated the women of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese upon the 50 years of serving the church asserting that as the diocese they decided to celebrate them because of their vital role rendered as mothers of the nation.
Grace Mukugize Bagada, the President Bunyoro Kitara Diocese Mother’s union and Christian Women Fellowship highlighted the need for government to extend Financial support and training programs towards women to enhance their capacity building.
She says they have embarked on the construction of an estimated shs2 billion shillings Women’s Guest House which will act as a source of funds to them and diocese at large.
Eric Musana the MP Buyaga East asked minister Mutuuzo to remind the government to expedite the process of releasing the long awaited PDM funds to the various PDM Sacco Groups for benefit.
The Function started with a Church service which was presided over by Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese RT Rev. Samuel Kahuma.
