A section of Village Health Teams from Kyaterekera Sub County and Town council have expressed dissatisfaction to the government and the leadership of Kagadi district over the continued delay of disbursement of the allowances meant ot facilitate them while on their duties in their respective villages.
Village Health Teams led by Mustaf Magambo the Village Chairperson Kyaterekera A says that during the recently concluded mosquito net distribution exercise, they used their own resources expecting to be facilitated but they have not received their allowances yet they do a lot of work.
They also narrate that they work almost 12 hours a day but their efforts are not appreciated by the government.
They want government to recognize them by putting them on monthly allowances and ensure timely payments once there is an exercise carried out.
Mustaf Magambo the village chairperson LCI for Kyaterekera A in Kyaterekera Town council says that they worked during the elections period but their allowances were not paid since then.
Mustaf says that officers bring papers for them to sign whenever there is an activity but they are not given chance to proofread through and end up signing for what they never receive.
All these were narrated while meeting the resident district commissioner Kagadi who had delivered the stolen and recovered 46 pairs of Gumboots for VHTs that were supposed to be used during the mosquito net distribution exercise.
However, Lillian warned VHTs and Village chairpersons against appending their signatures on documents they don’t understand or have not read through.
