The Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni will Friday July 16 release the 2020 Primary Leaving Examination Results, the Ministry of Education has said.

Education Minister will release the 2020 PLE results at 11:00am, from State House, Entebbe.

The development was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon after a closed-door meeting in which the First Lady was briefed on candidates’ performance.

The meeting was attended by Uganda National Examination Board Executive Secretary Dan, UNEB Chairperson Prof Mary Okwakol among others.

The release of the exams, which was slated for last month, was postponed after President Museveni instituted a 42-day lockdown to stem the spread of coronavirus.

This will be the first set of the 2020 national examinations to be released.

According to UNEB, a total of 749,811 candidates are registered to sit for PLE.

Odongo revealed over 68% of the candidates (513,091) are products of the Universal Primary Education program.

By gender, girls are the majority at 53% (395,855) while 353,956 (47%) are boys.

Out of these, 58 are inmates who sat for their exams from Luzira Maxim State Penitentiary.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic disruptions, the total number of the candidates was above the 2019 figure of 695,468 with a range of over 10,000 candidates.
