Two yet to be identified men have been lynched and bodies set on fire by an angry mob in Nalweyo Sub County Kakumiro district over the allegations of theft.
The bizarre incident occurred last night at around 10pm in Katoogo LCI, Nalweyo Sub County.
It’s alleged that residents caught the duo with a pig but when they asked for particulars, their response was not convincing prompting the locals to beat and burn them to death.
In an interview with our news reporter , the area chairperson LCI Yosam Kwikiriza narrated that the duo had a harmer, ropes, sacks and cups which residents suspect to be used as a cover for pigs’ mouths.
Kwikiriza adds that theft and other offenses have become rampant in his area thereby asking the government at least to arm area chairpersons with guns to tighten security.
Obed Bigodi, the Buruka ward & Irindumura parish Chairperson LCII enlightened that this is a milestone taken by residents in fighting against theft in the area.
He is therefore asking the village leaders and residents to be vigilant about the intruders in the area in order to fight against criminals.
Meanwhile, Tom Katwesige, the Nalweyo sub county chairperson LCIII condemned the act of mob justice and advised the residents to always report matters to the authorities for action.
He further asked his people to continue adhering to Standard Operating Procedures in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.
By press time, Nalweyo police station had already reached the scene, preparing to take the bodies to the district mortuary after postmortem since the deceased were not identified.
