Two arrested over Motorcycle theft

KAKUMIRO

The territorial police in Kakumiro district are holding two suspects for allegedly stealing a motorcycle registration number UDL 789E Bajaj Boxer red in color.

The suspects are James Byaruhanga a male adult aged 29 years and Charles Tibisigwa aged 23 years residents of Mwitanzige West village in Kakumiro district.

Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region police spokesperson disclosed that the incident happened on Thursday and it was reported by one Yowana Niwagaba a male adult aged 21 years, a resident of Buhumuliro village in Ijumangabo parish.

Hakiza says it’s alleged that on Thursday evening, the duo allegedly stole the motorcycle that had been parked in Niwagaba’s compound.

Niwagaba made an alarm that attracted residents who pursued the duo and intercepted them. They were beaten by locals leaving them in comma but were later rescued by police.

Hakiza says the two are receiving treatment at Life Care clinic in Mwitanzige.

He adds that these will be charged with theft of a motorcycle once investigations are complete.
