Peter Ogwang the State Minister for Economic Monitoring in the office of the president and also Member of Parliament for Usuk County in Katakwi District has ordered for the arrest of two district officials on charges of mismanaging government funds.
The arrested are the district supervisor in charge buildings Solomon Atugonza and Amos Tukwasiibwe the expert in repairing boreholes in Kibaale district.
Others summoned are the Town clerk Kibaale Town council Deo Gafabusa Karari, Town Council Engineer Kenneth Bahati, Benerd Kisembo the SAS Kabasekende and Godfrey Obukurem the district supervisor in charge civil works.
According to Minister Peter Ogwang, both the arrested and summoned officers will be charged with misuse of public funds and lack of physical accountabilities of government projects being implemented in the district of Kibaale.
Minister Ogwang together with his counterpart Minister for Bunyoro Affairs Janepher Kacha Namuyangu are on the economic monitoring of implementation of government programs in the Bunyoro Sub region.
However, the minister was disappointed with the way government programs were implemented in Kibaale District.
According to Minister Ogwang, Nyamugusa Borehole was rehabilitated at a cost not more than 2 million Uganda shillings as opposed to the 6.7 million budget cost as presented by Ben Ssekuya the district Water officer and Amos.
Ogwang says Hakabanda Roadside market that was abandoned at the foundation stage at a cost of 13 million was established in the road reserve with no certificate of compliance from UNRA officials.
Other monitored projects are Kabasekende PS structures rehabilitated using Discretionary Development Equalization Grant (DDEG) funds, Nyabusojo Borehole, Kabasekende Solar powered water irrigation system in Kabasekende Sub County and 6km Kacu-Buhiira road and the 11.7km Kirika-Kisonde-Muhangi-Muziizi road in Bubango Sub County.
Others are Bubango piped water system, Nyamarwa seed SS, Matale HCIII Maternity ward among others.
The monitoring exercise is focusing on education, Water, Health, works among others.
The exercise was graced by the district LCV chairman Godfrey Muwonge Kasanga, Dorothy Ajwanga the Chief Administrative officer, Caroline Kashaija Muyambi the deputy RDC among others.
