Two people in Kagadi have been arrested for their alleged involvement in Fuel Siphoning from the vehicles that were being used in the distribution of long lasting mosquito nets in the district.
The suspects whose identities have been withheld in order not to jeopardize police investigations were arrested on the orders of the RDC ,Lillian Ruteraho on allegations that they were found in Kagadi town siphoning fuel from the super custom truck registration number UBB 083Q, belonging to the ministry of health.
They are being detained at Kagadi central police station.
Ruteraho says the suspects were found with two jerricans of siphoned fuel.
The exercise which was carried out on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week, has been marred with challenges of theft.
At least 3840 long lasting mosquito nets which had been stolen by unidentified people were discovered by a security team in Kiryane cell, Kagadi town council.
It’s reported that officials responsible for the distribution of Mosquito nets in Kagadi have denied the stolen items, which compelled the RDC Kagadi to invite auditors to intervene.
She has also demanded compressive reports from all sub county supervisors about the mosquito nets distributed in each sub county.
Four people were also arrested for stealing and selling government property including 4 pairs of Gumboots, and 20 T-shirts.
