The leaders of Mwitanzige Sub County in Kakumiro district are stranded after their offices were closed due to failure to clear rent arrears for last 11months.
The offices situated in Mwitanzige town have been closed by the landlord Julius Twesigye after failure to clear his arrears of 1.1 Million Uganda shillings.
It’s alleged that the Mwitanzige sub county Chief Robert Bahemuka was given money to clear land lord but seems to have diverted it to his personal issues.
Speaking to Radio West, Syliverio Twesigye Bategana, and the Mwitanzige parish Chairperson LCII expressed disappointment noting that all the services have been inconvenienced.
Medad Bakampata, the councilor representing people with disabilities in Mwitanzige sub county says that they have always told the suspect Bahemuka to clear the landlord but all in vain.
Frank Ompeire Max, the current Mwitanzige sub county Chairperson LCIII narrated that he is not much concerned about the debt since he has just assumed the office, but again tasked the suspect to sort out the mess as soon as possible for better services of the sub county.
Meanwhile, Julius Twesigye revealed that he tried all means to get his rent paid but all went futile forcing him to close the offices.
The accused refused to talk about the matter when our reporter contacted him for a comment.
