The Kakumiro District Council has approved shs 60million for constructing a mortuary at Kakindo Health Centre IV in Kakindo town council.
During the Council session presided over by the District Speaker Hon. Ajuna Byarugaba last evening at Kakumiro Council Hall in Kakumiro town council, Hon. Justus Mulungi, the Chairperson for Health and Education committee read the resolutions made after meeting with the rest of the committee members.
Mulungi says that as a committee they resolved to construct only one mortuary at Kakindo Health Centre IV after observing that only 60million shillings sent by the Health Ministry was not enough to construct two mortuaries as planned.
Initially, the money was to construct mortuaries at Kakumiro and Kakindo Health Center IVs.
The Kakumiro District Chairperson Joseph Ssentayi Ssenkusu welcomed the resolution noting that since Kakumiro Health Center IV already has a small mortuary, the 60 million should be used to construct that of Kakindo Health Center in this financial year.
He further advised councilors to pass the resolution adding that the new mortuary at Kakumiro Health Center will be constructed in the next financial year.
Meanwhile, in an interview with our reporter after the council session, some councilors expressed gratitude towards the approval of the resolution saying that Kakindo Health facility serves the biggest population whereas others leaned on the opposite side.
