Senior Lira University hospital administrator robbed by gunmen in Kakumiro

Suspected gunmen have attacked and robbed Lira University hospital administrator of millions of money in Kakakindo town council, Kakumiro district.

 Dr Moses Kahwa who is a resident of Nyabakande Cell, Rukunyu ward, Kakindo town council is the Senior Lira University hospital where he is also a lecturer. He says today at around 2am, about eight men with one armed with a gun others with sticks broke into his house and put all family members on gunpoint before demanding for money. They also fired several bullets to cause panic. They took over 5 million shillings, a laptop, an Ipad and a mobile phone.

Winfred Kyaterekera the wife to Kahwa says that it seems there are some collaborators in the village who are providing to the gangs about families that could be having money.

Annet Tumusiime a neighbor to the victims says that she heard an alarm and made some calls for help.

Police came to their rescue nearly after 30 minutes and yet police was very near the robbed home.

Carolyne Businge the Kakindo town council female councilor has condemned the act and asked security authorities to come to their rescue. She says more able police officers should be deployed in Kakindo.

There have been several attacks on residents by gun-wielding thugs in Kakumiro district and efforts by security authorities to have them arrested have been fruitless.

Last week,a local pastor in nursing gunshot wounds after he attacked by gunmen in Kakindo town council, Kakumiro district on Saturday night.

The victim identified as Paul Rwakasule aged 37 years a pastor at Christian fellowship church and a local businessman in Nkwaki cell, Kakindo town council was on Saturday at around 7:30 attacked by gunmen who shot him in the head and the right thigh. The suspected gunmen robbed him of over 4 million shillings cash.

On Saturday October 16, 2021, yet to be identified armed robbers stormed Kikoola trading center, Kakumiro district and robbed about 4 million shillings a hardware shop belonging to Justine Kesande, a prominent businesswoman. They fired several shots in the air to scare away residents.

In September this year, other armed robbers raided a mobile money agent and an electronics shop in Kakumiro district and stole 30 smartphones and an unspecified amount of money. The thugs stormed the shop in Mwitanzige trading center,Kakumiro district at night.

 In March 2021, gunmen attacked a Centenary bank agent in Kisiita town council, Kakumiro districtrobbing an unspecified amount of money.

 In October 2020, armed thugs raided Kakumiro district and robbed Shillings 16 million from a businesswoman in Kuhuna trading centre. Armed with a gun, the robbers raided a shop owned by Ms.Margret Basemera and held her at gunpoint before ordering her to surrender all the money in her possession.
