Police in Masindi district are holding two security guards attached to a sovereign company on allegations of house theft, where 200 million shillings were stolen.
The two arrested are Isa Ochaya, a male adult of 19 years, and Prosper Ocungirwoth, a 20-year-old, all residents of Masindi.
The guards are alleged to have connived and broke into Bakerm Enterprise Hardware Shop Masindi at an unknown time on Tuesday night.
The administrator of Bakerm Enterprise Hardware Shop, Mr. Isaac Wamani, reported the incident yesterday morning at Masindi Central Police Station.
This prompted police to rush to the scene, cordon it off, and arrest the two security guards who were manning the hardware.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of the two security guards and disclosed that they will be charged with house theft.
‘’Two security guards who were manning the hardware shop were arrested and will be charged with house theft,’ he said.
The regional police mouthpiece advised the business community to cease the habit of keeping large amounts of money in the house or business premises and rather keeps their money in the bank for safety.
