Residents of Katerera Village Kyaterekera Town council in Kagadi district have expressed fear due to the rise of malaria and typhoid cases in their area resulting from the poor water they are using in their homes.
Wilberforce Byabagambi chairman LCI Katerera Village says that this village has a total population of about 700 people with 574 households but they all share one water source which is also a pond with animals.
He says that they have been calling for help from government officials but nothing has been done yet they are supporters of the ruling government under President Museveni.
Residents further accuse their local leaders at district level for minding about their allowances and not minding about the people who voted for them.
They want government through their local councilors to avail them with clean and safe water to their village to reduce on the increasing number of malaria and typhoid cases in Kyaterekera Town council.
Wilberforce Byabagambi says that their village has 5 water sources and out of these 3 is ponds and the 2 shallow wells are dilapidated and no longer functional.
