Residents beat up LCI chairperson during curfew enforcement

KAKUMIRO

The LCI chairpersons of Kyedikyo A and B, in Katikara sub county Kakumiro district last night survived death narrowly after being beaten by residents during the enforcement of curfew time.

The victims have been identified as Robert Nsasiire of Kyedikyo B and Abdul Hakim Nkuusi of Kyedikyo A who were beaten together with their defense secretaries and Kyangota parish chairperson at around 10Pm in Kyakaya trading Centre.

In an interview with this website, Robert Nsasiire narrated that they found a lot of people in a bar drinking past curfew time and when they told the bar owner to close, he and the customers decided to attack them aggressively.

He adds that the Kyedikyo A defense secretary Geoffrey Ngabirano was injured during the attack and he is currently admitted in critical conditions.

Also speaking to journalists, Abdul Nkuusi Hakim narrated that they will continue to enforce the presidential directives noting that Covid-19 is real and people should adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures set by the government.

Abdul Hakim adds that they have already reported the matter to Katikara Police station.
