Lillian Ruteraho, the Kagadi Resident District Commissioner on Wednesday declined to launch the construction of classroom blocks at Waihembe and St Peters Primary Schools in Mpeefu Sub-County over allegations that the contractors started construction work before the district leadership handed over the sites to them officially.
Completion of a 3-classroom block at Waihembe PS is expected to cost Ug. Shs 80m while construction of a 3 classroom block at St Peters Nyakatojo P/s is estimated to cost Ug. shs 89m.
Similarly, the contractor started work before the site handover at Nyakasozi Primary school in Gabiloreka Sub-County but the RDC launched because work was still at the foundation course.
A two-class block with staff quarters will cost Ug. shs 89.4m at Nyakasozi Primary school.
The district leadership started the exercise of launching the construction works of several projects in the district on Tuesday in Buyaga East.
RDC was annoyed to be invited to launch the construction works which started long ago without her notice and vowed to investigate the district leaders who tend to involve themselves in corruption while awarding these contracts.
The Kagadi district LC5 chairperson Yosia Ndibwami told the media that shillings over 746 million is expected to be spent on the construction of the 5 schools and also vowed to sermon the contractors for the alleged misbehavior.
The Kagadi District Eng. Bukenya Robert declined to comment on the matter.
