The public has provided some insightful leads in the shooting dead of pastor Aloysius Bugingo’s driver and bodyguard, Richard Muhumuza according to police spokesperson Fred Enanga.
The vehicle in which Muhumuza and Bugingo were transferring was shot at it over 13 times early this month at around 9 pm in Namungoona-Lubaga Division in Kampala city. At least 8 bullets were retrieved from Muhumuza’s body.
A few weeks ago, the police staked a Shs 20 million bounty for information leading to the arrest of the suspects involved in the shooting.
Enanga now says police have gathered clues regarding the weapons used and potential suspects after the public provided some information which they are actively pursuing leads before making any arrests.
Enanga emphasized the importance of verifying the credibility of the provided information before taking further action.
“The public shall be informed on the progress,” Enanga said.
Previously, forensic experts reported that the pistol used in Muhumuza’s shooting was the same firearm used in the killing of blogger Isma Olaxes (Isma Tusubira) in May last year near his home in Kyanja, Nakawa Division.
No suspects have been apprehended in both cases.
