President Museveni Eulogises late Bishop Baharagate

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has eulogised Rt Rev Dr Albert Edward Baharagate, the Bishop Emeritus of Hoima Catholic Diocese who died last week.

President Museveni who contributed Ugx 20 million as condolence described the late Bishop Baharagate as a committed and selfless servant of God and called upon Christians to emulate his good deeds.

President Museveni was represented by the Prime Minister of Uganda Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah during a burial ceremony held at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral Bujumbura in Hoima City.

The late Bishop Baharagate Akiiki died at the age of 93 on Wednesday, April 5th at Nsambya Hospital after battling diabetes for many years.

Bishop Baharagate was born on February 25th, 1930, in Nyamigisa Village, in Masindi District and was ordained a priest on December 7th, 1958, appointed Bishop of Hoima on July 7th, 1969 and was consecrated a Bishop of Hoima on August 1st, 1969 by Pope Paul VI.

On March 9th, 1991, Bishop Baharagate resigned as Bishop of Hoima, but went on to serve in other civil capacities one of which is being the National Chairman of Uganda Red Cross Society and has been buried in the mausoleum at the Cathedral.
