After Kagadi district general Hospital recorded 14 staff of COVID 19, patients have opted to abandon the hospital in run for their lives to seek medication elsewhere something that created fear amongst hospital administration.
Patients who abandoned the hospital are those from the male ward, female ward and pediatrics ward leaving the hospital with only maternity ward which handles mothers giving life.
Simon Peter Tumusiime the Kagadi Hospital Administrator says that the hospital is running normally despite the rumors that administrators had closed the facility.
Simon says that patients’’ leaving was their wish but the hospital has no intention of closing.
Simon however says that patients decided to protect themselves by embracing home care medication and this has reduced the congestion that the hospital had previously.
Dr. James Olowo the Kagadi district health officer says that the district in a period of two weeks has recorded 106 COVID 19 cases and of which 14 are Health Workers at Kagadi Hospital.
He says that only 4 cases were critical and were referred to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital for management
Dr. James further clarifies that the hospital management has not chased other patients from the hospital but rather the hospital is till admitting as usual despite the increasing number of health staff falling sick of the pandemic.
As of now, hospital premises are empty only staff who are their waiting for patients.
Kagadi hospital does not manage and treat COVID 19 patients but rather refer them to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital if they are in critical conditions.
