The Bishop of the diocese of Kigezi Rt. Rev. Eng George Bagamuhunda has asked parents to always spare time, talk and care for their children.
Bishop Bagamuhunda made these remarks while inducting Venerable Ernest Nkwasiibwe as the new Archdeacon of St. Peter’s Church of Uganda-Muyebe Archdeaconry in Buhara sub-county, Ndorwa East constituency in Kabale district.
Bishop Bagamuhunda noted that it’s disheartening that most of the children have been lured into evil habits such as misuse of drugs, fornication, theft, others left schools to hunt for money.
He added that worst of all, some girls got pregnant especially in this period of COVID-19 lockdown where they haven’t been at school this reducing their chances of going back threatening to lead them to a deprived future.
Bishop Bagamuhunda urged parents to ensure their responsibility and take children to school even though they don’t have huge sums of money. He also called upon members of fathers’ and mothers’ union leaders and members to take a centre role in the upbringing of the young generation.
While inducting the new archdeacon, the Bishop called upon Christians to always pray and work with him if he is to serve well in this Ministry. He also asked Venerable Nkwasiibwe to desist from earthly temptations and always pray to God for direction.
While preaching during the service, the Kigezi diocesan secretary, Rev. Can. Erasmus Turyatunga asked Christians to be faithful and love the word of God in order to be blessed and have eternal life.
He also advised Venerable Nkwasiibwe to protect his image and serve God through preaching soul touching messages in the archdeaconry working hand in hand with the lay readers and Priests towards lifting the glory of Muyebe Archdeaconry.
Venerable Nkwasiibwe on his part appreciated the Christians who accompanied and those that welcomed him and made his day colourful.
He promised to serve diligently and enhance cooperation in Christians towards developing Muyebe Archdeaconry.
In his career, Venerable Erasmus Nkwasiibwe served at St. Philip’s church Bugongi, St. Andrew’s Church of Uganda Nyabikoni, St. John’s Church of Uganda Kijuguta, St. Peter’s Cathedral Church Rugarama, Emmanuel Muhanga Church of Uganda, St. James Buhangizi Church of Uganda and Nyaruhanga Church of Uganda in Rubanda district.
