Over 80 teams to participate in Acaali women’s football tournament

Over 80 teams have registered and will participate in the 2022 Acaali women’s football tournament first edition.
The revelation was made on Tuesday by the Buyaga East Member of Parliament and Uganda’s representative in the pan African parliament Eric Musana Acaali during the preparatory meeting for the tournament with team managers held at Paradigm Institute of Business Vocational and Media Studies compass in Kagadi town.
During the meeting the organizers and team managers drew fixtures and rules that will govern the tournament.
MP Musana said every team that will participate in the tournament will receive UGX 500,000 and the champion will be gifted with a trophy, a tent, plastic chairs, millions of money and other gifts.
He said the core objective of the tournament is to develop talents among women and uplift their rights.
Musana explained that the launching of the women’s football tournament is slated for 29th December, 2022 in Kicucura sub-county and called upon all registered teams to observe discipline to avoid chaos during the tournament.
He asked men to allow their wives participate in the tournament to help them develop their talents but also keep them physically fit.
Wycliffe Abesiga, the chairperson organizing committee has challenged participants from all the registered teams not to consider rumors but instead make enough practice to become champions.
Meanwhile, team managers commended Eric Musana for considering women in the tournament and promised to continue supporting him in the 2026 elections.
