Over 10 Houses Unroofed, Crops Destroyed By Heavy Rain Storm, Residents Stranded

KAGADI

Residents of Kyabairu village, Nyakarongo Sub County in Kagadi District are stranded with no accommodation and lack of food after heavy rainstorm washed away their crops and houses leaving them in a devastated state.

Residents who were found stranded led by their village chairman Raphael Bwambale say that they were hit by heavy rain storm for more than 3 hours.

Jesca Kenguuto a widow says that her husband left her in a temporary house with orphans and now they don’t have where to sleep after their house was unroofed with their food crops destroyed.

Residents want government to come to their rescue through the Ministry of Disaster preparedness and management since they have been left with nowhere to put despite them having children.

Patrick Tumuhimbise the lay Reader at Hakondo Church of Uganda which was also left down says that Christians had begun preparing themselves for Sunday services and now they are left with no option thus calling for government hand in replacing the house of God.

Muhhamed Tweheyo the Sub County Councilor for Nyakarongo says that over 10 houses were destroyed and all house properties destroyed.

He says that if government does not intervene, people are likely to live a miserable life.

Among other properties destroyed are Good Care Nursery and Primary school, Hakondo COU, bananas, beans and cassava that was hit by hailstones.
