Leaders in Kikuube District have described the visit by the Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees Hilary Onek as fruitless since he did not meet the evicted residents from Kyangwali Sub County.

On Wednesday, Minister Onek was expected to meet the affected persons, but, this did not happen as the minister ordered police to chase them away from the offices of the RDC where they were camped for a week.

Speaking to our reporter Peter Banura, the Kikuube District LCV says some of the people in Bukinda want compensation while others want to be resettled to their land however, they are questioning the land they are being resettled because it is alleged that the land tittle is in the names of an individual.

Meanwhile, Francis Kazini Twinomujuni, the Buhaguzi county legislator says as leaders they have done a lot to bring most of the leaders on Bukinda people but all in vein he says they are now planning to meet the president for him to intervene.

Residents are seeking for President Museveni’s intervention to have them return to their land, where they were evicted in 2013 by the Office of the Prime Minister to pave way for the expansion of Kyangwali refugee settlement.
