Minister Kasaija Ushers Kibaale Residents to New Year in Style, Calls for Hard Work

It was joy and glamour as Kibaale residents were ushered in the New Year in style while it was also survival for the fittest to access beer.


Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development also Buyanja County Member of Parliament Matia Kasaija has ushered in Kibaale residents to the New Year in a style of eating, drinking and dancing in an event staged at Kibeedi Playground, Nyamarunda Town council, Kibaale district.

However, it was survival for the fittest.

The event was characterized by eating, drinking, local artistes, comedians all for free.

Minister Kasaija, who began with a holy mass at St. Thereza Kibeedi Catholic Parish and later went for the New Year festivities at Kibeedi Playground called residents to embrace more hard work in this New Year so that they can be able to meet their desires.

Minister also pledge full education support to one Pastor Okudi who asked for study sponsorship from the minister.

Minister Kasaija was accompanied by his wife Maria Kasaija who asked parents to care for the girl child saying that they are the most vulnerable gender especially in this era of modern technology.

She castigated early marriages and teenage pregnancies that are on rise in the region.

However, Godwin Angalia Kasigwa, the Kibaale Resident District Commissioner warned joy makers not to disrupt security operations and also banned fireworks in the district due to insecurity reasons.

“We are letting you celebrate and welcome the New year in any style you want but we shall not allow things like burring car tyres, fireworks among others that put our security at stake” RDC Angalia said while addressing revelers at Kibeedi playground

Joy makers thanked Minister Kasaija for giving them a new style of welcoming the new year but also told us what didn’t work for them in the last year.

In Kagadi, the New Year found them in churches while others were in night clubs and others enjoying life.

Security was tight to curb down any criminality in the two districts ahead of the New Year eve celebrations.
