Police in Pakwach District in West Nile have in detention a man who was arrested for molesting a woman with his genitals on a bus.

Ivan Mungungeyo, a 31-year-old social worker and resident of Wampewo Kasawe Zone, Kasangati Town Council, in Wakiso District, turned his entire world on his zip inside a public bus on June 8.

According to police, the incident happened aboard a bus registration number UBF 691T belonging to Nile Star coaches, which was travelling from Kampala to Arua City.

It is said that on June 8 at about 8pm, Tracy, 21, was aboard the said bus when she was assaulted by a male passenger.

Tracy, whose full identity this publication will not reveal, is a university student. She was booked in seat 21. At first she sat next to unidentified lady who alighted at Luweero town along Kampala-Gulu highway.

The vacant seat was then assigned to Mungungeyo, whose amorous traits overshot the control knobs to send him into an uncontrollable pervasion.

First, he went for Tracy’s thighs and when she brushed his offensive touches away, he instead got naughtier.

“At around Kichobonyobo village in Masindi, the suspect unzipped and released his ‘member’ and rubbed it on the victim’s sweater, which annoyed her and she made an alarm in the bus,” police said.

The victim left her seat and went in front to sit on the conductors’ seat. She narrated to the bus conductor and touts what her male seatmate had done.

Mungungeyo reportedly denied the allegation and claimed that he forgot to zip up his trouser and that’s why his penis was out.

On arrival at Pakwach, the bus operators tipped police, who promptly took the public nuisance into custody.

Josephine Angucia, the West Nile Region police spokesperson, said a case of indecent assault was opened at Pakwach Police Station and statements were recorded from the complainant and other relevant witnesses.

“The suspect was detained pending investigations under Pakwach CRB 223/2024,” she said

Police applauded the bus operators for their vigilance on such a matter and not tolerating such indecent behaviour by reporting it for investigations and proper management.
