Low Staff Impeding Health Service Delivery in Buliisa

BULIISA
Biiso Health Center IV in Biiso Town Council Buliisa District is grappling with understaffing that is allegedly affecting health service delivery to the communities.
Speaking to our reporter, the facility In-Charge Dr. Peter Otim disclosed that the facility that serves a bigger population within the district including communities from neighboring districts like Masindi, Hoima and Kikuube has only few staff.
According to Otim, the understaffing is greatly affecting the maternity department saying they only have one midwife who cannot afford to attend to many pregnant mothers who come ready to give life.
He added that they register a high number of deliveries every month at the same facility.
When Contacted Emerine Nabasa, the only mid-wife at the facility noted that the understaffing causes some patients to go back unattended to while others receive half services.
She (Nabasa) called for urgent intervention by the government by employing more midwives to ensure that the community is served well.
Lillian Okweda, a resident of Busingiro expressed concern that they move long distances for health services but sometimes they are forced to go back home after failing to be attended to.
She said this has caused starvation in health services.
