Kyegegwa District Council approves Shs33Billion Budget Estimates for FY2023/2024

KYEGEGWA
Kyegegwa District Council has anonymously approved a work plan and budget estimates for the F/Y 2023/2024 worth Thirty three billion, three hundred sixteen million, three hundred fourteen thousand nine hundred thirty one shillings {Ugx33,316,314,931} with education taking the biggest share.
The budget estimates were presented by the secretary for Finance Planning and Administration Aggrey Nabaasa Lawrence during the council seating held last evening in the district council hall at the Kyegegwa district headquarters and chaired by the district speaker Joel Magoba.
Of the approved budget estimates, One billion Nine hundred thirty two million six hundred thirty seven thousand seven hundred thirty shillings (Ugx1,932,637,730) constituting 06% will be raised from local revenue, Twenty Six billion Four hundred eighty one million five hundred forty three thousand shillings(26, 481, 543,000) as central government transfers which is 79%, Two billion Two hundred sixty nine million seven hundred forty two thousand three hundred shillings (Ugx4,269,742, 300) as donor and NGO funds which is 13% and Sixty three million two hundred thirty nine thousand one hundred ninety shillings (Ugx63,239,190) constituting 2% as transfers from other government units.
The budget was passed under the theme Full Monetization of the Uganda Economy through Agriculture, Industrialization, Expanding and Broadening Services, Digital transformation and Market Access.
Education has been allocated the biggest share of over Ugx 12billion, followed by Health with over Ugx 9billion, administration over Ugx 2billion, Works over Ugx1.8billion among other departments.
The motion was adopted by Jane Nalongo councilor representing Ruyonza Sub County and seconded by female youth councilor Kobusinge Beatrice
In his message while addressing council, the LC5 Chairperson Kyegegwa district John Kisoke Byamukama commended the councilors for passing the 2023/2024 F/Y budget calling upon all the stakeholders in the district to ensure combined effort towards its implementation.
