Members of Parliament have tasked Journalists to always think of establishing business projects away from their profession as a way of supplementing their insufficient salaries.
The call was made on Saturday at the 4th Annual General Meeting of Bunyoro South Journalists Association- BUSOJA by a cross section of MPs led by the Buyanja East MP Hon. Dr. Emely Kugonza at Star light hotel Karuguza in Kibaale Town council, Kibaale district.
BUSOJA is aimed at enhancing the welfare and protecting rights of both Print & Electronic Journalists in the Districts of Kagadi, Kibaale & Kakumiro respectively.
Dr. Emely appreciated the move by journalists to form a saving group noting that this is the only way they can supplement their scanty earnings they get from their work places.
Dr. Emely also appreciated journalists for the great work they do in amplifying information sharing
He donated shs2million Cash and also delivered shs2 million cash from Finance Minister Matia Kasaija towards the SACCO.
Other MPs appreciated the vast work the media has played towards realizing Unity and Development in greater Kibaale.
The Kibaale Woman Member of Parliament Noeline Basemera donated shs1 million, Buyaga East Member of Parliament Eric Musana shs1million, Josephat Tumwesigye of Bugangaizi South also pledged more funds towards the SACCO.
The MPs joins the list where the Kagadi Woman Member of Parliament Janepher Kyomuhendo Mbabazi donated 2 million at the last AGM held at Nuel Guest house in Kagadi town council, Kagadi district.
Journalists further elected their new Executive leadership who included President Jamil Tumusiime – Unopposed, Vice President-Tumwesige Caroline, Tresurer-Kyaiswa Moses, Publicity Vincent Tumuramye and General secretary Thomas Tumwebaze
Others were district Coordinators namely Santrina Kenema from Kagadi-, Atulinda Moses from Kakumiro- and Victor Akugizibwe from Kibaale districts respectively.
