Kakumiro district hunts over 529 million to fight covid-19

Kakumiro district covid-19 taskforce has started a fundraising campaign in a bid to raise over 529 Million shillings needed in the fight against the second wave of covid-19 pandemic.

While addressing the covid-19 taskforce members and other stakeholders today, Robert Senteza the district health officer said that the taskforce needs the funds to different activities like support ambulance services, instituting effective case management, fuel for local monitoring, community engagement, sensitization of the general public on radios, procuring infection prevention and control supplies among others.

He adds that there is a need to protect health workers who are the forefront of the fight against the pandemic.

The Kakumiro district chief administrative officer Peter Nsungwa says the district has no money to fight covid-19 pandemic. He is appealing to all well-wishers and development partners to join hands in this fundraising drive.

The Kakumiro resident district commissioner, Daniel Kikoola who is the covid-19 taskforce says that many activities in the battle against covid need facilitation. He says that this is the time all people should come up to support this cause.
