Kagadi town council authorities on Saturday started grading Kagadi model playground following the Tuesday’s stakeholders and public meeting resolution where all parties harmonized on starting rehabilitation work.

The rehabilitation works start amidst pressure from locals who had launched Save Kagadi Modal playground campaign after the playground had been turned into a dumping site for the Shengil Engineering Construction Company Limited who had left their soils piled on the playground blocking sports activities for close to two years.

Speaking to this publication, the Kagadi Town council Principal Town Clerk Geoffrey Mugisa said it was within the Town Council plans to grade the playground but had been limited by resources.

He said after the completion of the playground it will not only host football games but it will also host other public functions.

Geoffrey however said they cannot determine when the grading works of the playground will be completed because it will be worked on in phases.

Mugisa further asked residents, leaders and non-governmental organizations to extend their support towards grading the playground as it benefits the entire community.

It will however be remembered that since December 2022, the Town council authorities had shunned grading the playground citing issues of budgetary constraints not until the community woke up to do it by themselves.

Vincent Ssemuga, the Kagadi District Male Youth Councilor said the money collections from the community will facilitate plating and watering grass on the playground after its grading is completed.

Meanwhile residents were excited by the grading works noting the sports activities at the playground will soon resume.
