Grief and shock has this morning engulfed residents of Mutumba village Kagadi Sub County when an inmate in his 20s was found dead in the cells of Kenga police post.
The deceased has been identified as Edward Mugisa son to Chrysostom Bisaniko a resident of Mutumba village, Kagadi Sub County in Kagadi district.
After getting information that Edward has passed on, angry residents turned up to destroy properties of Francis Bilowozo and two pigs were killed among other properties only to be rescued by police.
Some residents who shared with our reporter say that the deceased was in the previous night seriously beaten by his father Bisaniko and Francis Birowozo the brother on allegations of assaulting family members before being taken to Kenga police post which residents say could have caused his death.
However, Bisaniko denies the allegations that he killed his son citing that the deceased used to drink alcohol on an empty stomach which he says could be the cause of his death.
He adds that last night Edward came drunk where he started fighting family members prompting them to arrest him and was taken to Kenga police where he died on the morning of Thursday.
Meanwhile, Kenneth Bakashaba the OC Kagadi central police station condemns the act and urges residents to remain calm as investigations continue.
By press time police had taken the body to Kagadi Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
