Kagadi district local government has today launched the construction of 10.5 kilo meter Kyeya-Kyabahiita-Kinyarugonjo road under the programme dubbed mechanized maintenance with funding from the Uganda road fund (URF).

The project expected to cost 48 million Uganda shillings is to take a period of three weeks from the date of launch and the work will be done the district plant operators without involving contractors.

Mr. Yosia Ndibwami the Kagadi district Chairman says that from the presidential directive, no local government should involve the contractors in road maintenance and thus availing the road equipment which he says that they are available for use.

Mr. Ndibwami asks for cooperation from all the stakeholders in order to deliver services in time and with quality.

I want to thank the government for giving us enough road equipment and this will help us in road maintenance in the whole district without putting in much money as it was before” said Mr. Ndibwami

Ms. Lillian Ruteraho the Kagadi Resident district Commissioner while launching the project asked all leaders to shun down political differences and focus on service delivery for their people.

Ms. Lillian says that it is only cooperation that roads, water, schools and others can be availed to the local person and in time.

Residents applauded the National Resistance Movement leadership and Kagadi district local government for ensuring that their road is rehabilitated since it had spent a long period of time under poor conditions.

They narrate that the poor condition of their road had hampered trade and health services since pregnant mothers have been facing a challenge while going for maternity care.

Kyeya-Kyabahiita-Kinyarugonjo road will connect town local governments of Mabaale Town council and Kinyarugonjo Sub County and it was opened when it was under the grater Kibaale administration.

The launch was conducted at Mukako trading where the sub county leadership proposes to host the sub county headquarters as opposed to Kinyarugonjo an idea that has raised mixed reactions among the residents.
