The explosive attacker secured dual citizenship on Monday

Spanish giants Real Madrid have been afforded a boost on the transfer front by a key member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, according to reports.

The player in question? Vinicius Jr.

For those not aware, word was forthcoming earlier today that wide-man Vinicius had secured for himself a Spanish passport, meaning he now boasts dual citizenship, between Spain and Brazil.

And, in the process of doing so, the 22-year-old also afforded his club some added wiggle room on the transfer market.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are now in possession of an extra non-EU spot in the club’s first-team squad.

This, of course, could well prove important on the market either in January or next summer, with Los Blancos’ pursuit of a key target this past June having actually fallen through owing to a lack of additional non-EU places in Ancelotti’s ranks.

Upon word coming to the fore that he was free to depart Manchester City, Gabriel Jesus had been identified as an ideal addition on the part of the powers that be at the Bernabeu.

Unable to push forward with their efforts to land the Brazilian, though, Real were ultimately left with little choice but to watch on as Jesus put pen to paper on terms with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
