The Spanish international has reiterated his intention to stay put

Manchester United star David de Gea has, on Saturday, provided an insight into his long-term plans at Old Trafford.

Shot-stopper De Gea, of course, is currently preparing for a milestone occasion.

This comes with the Spaniard ready to take to the pitch in Red Devils colours for a remarkable 500th occasion, when Erik ten Hag’s troops welcome Newcastle to Old Trafford for a Premier League clash on Sunday evening.

De Gea, in the process will become just the 11th player in Manchester United’s fabled history to manage as much.

Despite having featured from the off in each and every one of the Reds’ fixtures across both the domestic and European fronts thus far this season, though, the former Atletico Madrid standout’s future actually remains up in the air.

De Gea’s current terms at Old Trafford are due to expire in the summer of 2023 (though the powers that be at the club boast the option to trigger a further year next summer).

Speaking in an interview on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his future was put to the goalkeeper himself.

And United’s no.1 was not at all shy in confirming his intention to commit to a fresh deal, in explaining that:

“I’d like to stay here more years and make records of everything, to win trophies.

“This is my club and this is where I feel good. I’ve many more years to play. I feel confident.”
