A total of Six million Six hundred sixty one thousand shillings (shs 6,661,000) in cash has been raised at a fundraising drive to build Kamuroza Sub-county administration block in Kagadi district.
Officiating at the function that was held at Kamuroza Sub county offices, the Buyaga East MP Eric Musana urged residents to shun hatred politics but focus at the development of their area.
He said as the government extends services to the areas, the community should also start up self-help projects to supplement government programs aiming at alleviating the locals from poverty.
Musana contributed 2M shillings cash and 50 bags of cement on addition to a piece of land he had earlier bought for the sub-county to build its headquarters in Kihemba trading center.
The Kagadi district woman MP Janepher Kyomuhendo Mbabazi who supported the function with Six hundred thousand shillings (Ugx600,000) commended the community and their leaders for cooperating to build the sub-county offices without waiting for the government support.
The Kamuroza Sub-County Lc3 chairman Kisakye Zeresire appreciated the teamwork spirit exhibited and promised to speed up the construction works of the administration block to cut rent expenses.
The sub-county chief Agatha Birungi said the sub-county receives inadequate funds from government and are facing challenges in paying rent, adding that construction of the block is timely.
