Christians urged to embrace the wealth creation campaigns from the government in order to create jobs, eliminate household poverty

The message was delivered by H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who was represented by H.E Rtd. Major Jessica Arupo as the guest of honor at the centenary celebrations and thanksgiving of Rushoroza cathedral parish at Our lady of good shepherd Rushoroza cathedral parish where she showed concern over poverty which is caused by 99% farmers practicing subsistence farming.

The president of the republic of Uganda as the guest of honor, through Rtd Major Jessica Arupo contributed 50M cash towards the rehabilitation of the church and in addition, she also pledged to put 15M cash on the account of the parish.

Henry Ariganyira Musaasizi, Minister of Finance and economic planning General Duties hailed and welcomed the Guest of honor H.E Jessica Arupo and other dignitaries for honoring the invitation and also congratulated Rushoroza cathedral parish for 100 years and pledged 20 pews worth 30M.in addition to 3M that he contributed for the day’s lunch.

Catheline Ndamira Atwakiire owabodingi, the Kabale district woman MP also hailed and welcomed the guest of honor and thanked God for Rushoroza parish and urged Christians to always thank God for the gift of the Catholic faith that was started by catechists, urging them to follow the footsteps of Yohana Kitagana who started the Catholic faith in Rushoroza and pledged to pay for 5 pews worth 7.5M in addition to 300kgs of Rice for lunch.

Wilfred Niwagaba, also congratulated Rushoroza cathedral parish and felt so proud saying that the Catholic faith started from his Constituency, and pledged 10 pews worth 15m as each seat will cost 1.5M in addition to two cows worth 3M contributed for lunch.

Kamara Nicholas, the Ndorwa east constituency MP also congratulated the parish and gave 3M cash for two pews.

Prossy Akampulira Mbabazi Begumisa, the Rubanda district woman MP, who is also the commissioner of parliament also donated a pew worth 1.5M, in addition to 1.5M towards the preparation for the day.

Alex Niyonsaba, the Bufumbira South constituency MP congratulated the parish and hailed the Kigezi MPs for their solidarity led by H Catherine Ndamira Atwakiire their chief whip and pledged to pay for two pews and gave 2M cash.

Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, the Bishop Kabale diocese in his homily congratulated Rushoroza cathedral parish for 100 years and hailed every one that contributed to the inauguration of Rushoroza cathedral parish especially Yohana Kitagana, the first catechist who brought the Catholic faith in Rushoroza.

The bishop urged everyone to thank you God always, especially the catechists with whom the Catholic faith started, urged them to follow the footsteps of Yohana Kitagana who started the Catholic faith wholeheartedly, and to serve God with all their hearts, be proud of their mission and call from God .

The Bishop also advised Christians to be the light to others as Christians following the example of the day’s Gospel (the epiphany of the Lord Jesus Christ), let this celebration open our mind, spread the gospel everywhere. And be happy and glad to be a Christian, use their gifts from the Holy Spirit, thank God for the gift of Jesus Christ.

He also called upon Christians to let love unite them together, and be the bridge in spreading the Gospel, love everyone and make him or her love God , as he also loved them and gave them his only begotten son (John 3:16).

The Bishop urged Christians to be challenged by what they have celebrated, enjoy the celebration, stir up, keep the light burning and pray for each other.

Remigio Byamukama, the Rushoroza cathedral parish chairman Parish council congratulated the parish and welcomed everyone for coming to witness the centenary celebrations and Thanksgiving of Rushoroza cathedral parish and urged Christians to stir up the faith that they received, as the theme of the celebrations.
