The striker is set to join the Blues on deadline day

Barcelona striker and former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to join Chelsea in a deadline day move that will see Marcos Alonso head in the other direction.

The Blues are expected to pay a fee in the region of £12m for the attacker, while Marcos Alonso will finally complete his long-awaited move to Barcelona in exchange.

And the player is due to fly from Barcelona back to London, in a reverse of his January transfer deadline day, this afternoon, with a contract on the table for a 2 year deal plus the option of a further year.

As per the Standard, the plan is for the striker to board a plane to London at 2.15pm, where he will arrive at Cobham for medical tests and to sign the paperwork required to complete the deal.

However, the Gabon striker’s debut will be delayed, with Aubameyang out of action for several weeks courtesy of a broken jaw sustained during a house robbery last week.

Depay to also arrive?

Chelsea could also wind up signing Memphis Depay before the transfer deadline too, according to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero.

The Dutchman has reportedly asked to leave the Camp Nou this summer, and after his move to Juventus broke down, it is unclear what his future holds.

Barcelona were willing to terminate his contract in order to allow him to join Juventus, but it is unclear whether they will do the same in the face of the spending power of the Premier League clubs, with Manchester United also having been linked with a move for the player.

While previously it was thought that only one of Aubameyang and Depay would be allowed to leave, should Barcelona be struggling to meet financial requirements, both could leave.
