The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Prime Minister Andrew Byakutaga has cautioned the Kikuube health centre IV medical personnel to carefully handle the newly handed over incubator machine and use it for its purpose.

Byakutaga cautioned the medical personnel while handing over the $2000 (shs7,436,720/=) incubator machine on Friday after the Empango Marathon and asked the medical personnel to protect the machine well and use it for its purpose for the betterment of the region.

Peter Banura the Kikuube District Chairperson thanked the Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara kingdom Dr. Solomon Gaffabusa Iguru for the parental care to his subjects and also urged all people from various parts of the Reagion to utilize the machine in case of need to reduce congestion in Hoima Regional Referral Hospital.

According to Banura, over 30 premature babies are born annually in Kikuube District and the lack of incubators had passed a big threat to the Health sector in Kikuube District.

“Am very thankful to our King Dr. Solomon Gaffabusa Iguru for the donation and his parental care to his subjects, as Kikuube District Health has been having a health gap at Kikuube Health Centre IV since the facility could not cater for the premature babies hence causing congestion in Hoima Regional Referral Hospital,” he said.

The Kikuube District Woman Member of Parliament, Florence Natumanya, said the machine is going to help mothers who have the challenges of having premature babies.

‘’The machine will also help to decongest Hoima regional referral hospital with cases of premature babies,’’ she said.

Fred Byenkya, who represented the director of Spice FM, the main organizer of empango marathon in partnership with the Kingdom, said the purchase of the machine was realized after a call from the Kikuube District Health department despite the previous aim for the run was to buy theatre lights for Kikuube Health Centre IV and added that the incubator cost 2,000 dollars.

He noted that this was the 6th Empango run and commended the Kingdom subjects for supporting the run by buying the kits, which enabled them to raise the money to buy the machine.

Byenkya added that the next year’s Empango run will target the Kakumiro District health department since it’s the only district in Bunyoro kingdom yet to be covered.
