Anonymous Muggers Attack Pastor’s Home, Kill 2 Harm One in Kagadi

Police in Kagadi are hare coursing unidentified assailants who on Thursday night at around 20:00hrs attacked pastor Acleo Barigye’s home and hacked three of his family members killing two on spot and injuring one.

Acleo Barigye is a caretaker of Kitoma Pentecostal Missionary of Uganda Church found in the same Sub County

The deceased have been identified as Phiona Asaba 12 daughter to Acleo Barigye and Stephen Kiiza 60 all residents of Kitemba East LC1, Kitemba Parish, Kicucuura Sub County in Kagadi district and were hacked while they were preparing supper.

Stephen Kiiza 60 now the late migrated from Kabulengwa village Kyabayima Parish, Manyogaseka Sub County Kassanda district and has been staying with this family as a casual laborer until he met his demise.

It is said that in 2019, delinquents attacked the same family and hacked one Esther Barigye wife to Pastor Barigye who survived with serious injuries on her body and the suspects were arrested up to date.

While at police, Stephen Kiiza and Phiona Asaba all now decesead were eyewitnesses while recording police statements at Kagadi CPS.

In 2019, my family was attacked by thugs who cut my wife but she never died and they took away with 5 million shillings. The deceased were eye witnesses in this case” Acleo told the media.

ASP Aimai Simon Peter the Kagadi CPS officer in Charge operations says that police mounted an expedition at around 2am with sniffer dog but in vein after the dog lost the battle near River Nkuse at the border of Kagadi and Kakumiro districts.

Residents who rushed to rescue after the alarm was made, say that this is an omen in their village and that they had never had such brutal and ungodly act.

When I see two graves at ago and we are going bury, is something shocking to me. Barigye is a good resident, pastor of God and I don’t know why people can hate him to this extent.” Innocent Wamaani a resident narrated.

ASP Judith Akello Joan the Kagadi district Police Commander condemned the act and asked the family to remain calm as hunt and investigations to have the culprits brought to book are ongoing.

Lillian Ruteraho the Kagadi district RDC says that the duo killing brings the number to a total of 7 murder cases in the district since the month of February started.

As a district security team, we are overwhelmed by the increasing murder cases and the circumstances under which the crimes are committed. We have instituted a tight security measure to curb down the vice so everyone remain calm.” Lillian Ruteraho said.
