Angry mob torch house of suspected witch in Kagadi

KAGADI

Angry residents of Kyomunembe B village, Kagadi Town council, Kagadi District have this morning staged a mob demonstration which has resulted in the burning of a house of the person suspected to be a witch practioner.

Sylvester Bagonza is suspected to have abducted one Jamil Musoke 13yrs a P.4 pupil at Maisha Kindergarten nursery and primary school in Kyenzige Town together with his own only identified as Nasali.

Speaking to Sowedi Katongole the father of the abducted child says Musoke got lost on Monday when he went to school and he found the school gate closed prompting him to travel to his grandmother in Kyomunembe B’ village where he is alleged to have been abducted.

He adds it is this morning that they were called by residents who discovered the child of Bagonza in his house and yet he has been also complaining that his child was abducted together with Sowedi Katongole prompting residents to burn his house and they were dispersed by police.

Elias Bosibosi the Chairperson LC1 Kyomunembe B villages says Bagonza was born in Kyomunembe B village but later went to Mityaana for 20yrs which is alleged that he was chased by mob in Mityaana due to witchcraft.

OC station Kagadi CPS ASP Kenneth Tukasahaba has requested the residents to always report new people in their villages to police because like Bagonza it was alleged that he was chased from Mityana due to which craft.

He adds that police have started investigations on the people who burnt the house and they will all be brought to book and will be charged with Arson.

By the time we compiled this story Police together with the residents had started a man hunt for Jamil Musoke.

Jamil was later found lying helpless with no harm at the gates of Maisha Kindergarten Nursery and Primary school in Kyenzige Town Council.
