Police in Kagadi are holding a 60 year old man on allegations of hacking his own son to death in a domestic violence scuffle.

The suspect, identified as Muhammed Kayaga alias Kalisiti resident of Kasozi B Rugashari Town Council in Kagadi district is said to have hacked his 29 year old son identified as Lucky Kasasira to death after he tried to rescue his mother who was being flattened by the father.

While talking to our reporter on Wednesday afternoon, residents said that Kayaga last night battered his wife in a fight that attracted Kasasira to rescue his mother but the father picked a panga and hacked him several times leaving him with severe injuries.

Residents further said that they rushed Lucky Kasasira to St. Ambrose Health Centre IV in Kagadi town for medication where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Maria Kabaka, a younger brother to the deceased, said that the father had on several occassions threatened to commit murder, adding that his character was not good in the area to the extent of not allowing any resident to come to their home.

However, Muhammed Kayaga the suspect has denied killing his son intentionally saying he was attacked by a group of people who wanted to kill him and in defense, he cut someone he could not identify very well in the dark that turned to be his son.

The Kagadi District Police Commander ASP Kenneth Bakashaba confirmed the incident saying murder cases resulting from domestic violence are on the rise in this lockdown in the district.

He asks residents to always report domestic violence cases to the concerned authorities and avoid mob justices.

Police has handed the body of the deceased to the family for burial and Kayaga is currently detained at Kagadi Central Police pending court injunction.
